RIO GRANDE

RIO GRANDE was the third and final calvary trilogy movie by John Ford. Unlike its predecessors, FORT APACHE and SHE WORE A YELLOW RIBBON, RIO GRANDE was made as the result of an agreement with Republic studio. John Ford had been trying to get THE QUIET MAN made but the only way Republic would agree to it was that he would first have to make another "black and white" western. Ford agreed and assembled his usual troup, adding Maureen Ohara, who was already set for THE QUIET MAN.
The results were history.
